Confused

Okay, now I am so confused. I checked the date on the picture we took of the positive pregnancy test...it's September 21st. Date of LMP, July 21st. Since my cycles were SO weird and unpredictable, I now have absolutely no idea when I might be due. I plugged in several dates and came up with anything from May 13th to June 4th. I hope when I get the ultrasound done they can tell from the baby's size about when he/she should be due.
And I'm even starting to doubt the positive result, after reading an article on false positives. It is almost 10 p.m., or I'd run to the drugstore right now! This is driving me a little nuts. I keep reminding myself that yes, I've been experiencing nausea! Of course, it may be a good thing if I can't nail down a definite date. Since I was 16 days late with Benjamin, maybe I can spare myself the torture of waiting. :)

Hey, Emily, I know a little how you feel. I'm due in April and thought I was pregnant all of July. Come to find out, I didn't get pregnant until the end of July. Weird, huh? The waiting game is no fun. Do you know when you will get an ultrasound?

Congratulations Rachel! :) It is really hard not having some dates nailed down. I think they'll probably order me an ultrasound when I go in next week. I wanted to wait until they could tell the gender to do the US.

actually the earlier u/s are more accurate than the 20wk u/s! Don't you hate it when you second guess and think you are dreaming it all up? I do!

When is your appointment?

So they can't tell the gender until 20 wks? My midwife likes to wait until the second trimester and just do the one ultrasound to find out gender. I told her that was fine with me. I guess I might be waiting a while.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to think I'm imagining it all. You can reason away cravings, sick feelings, pregnancy test...but, oh, can't reason away lack of MP :)

to know the gender 16wks the earliest ... I was saying to get an accurate due date the early 6-8wk u/s are more accurate. sorry to confuse you.

Gender is not as accurate at 16 weeks. We were told Isaiah was a girl at the 16 week one. BUT for dating, within the first trimester is the most accurate. If you wait until the 20th or so week it'll be accurate +/- two weeks anyway. Where it gets sticky is if you go waaaay overdue then the midwife has to transfer care. Go with the latest date they give you and be pleasantly surprised when/if the baby comes earlier.

Right, the first trimester ultrasound is great for dating, if you're completely unsure. I've had one each time, because my cycles have always been wacky. The gender u/s is best seen anywhere from 18-22 weeks, but I think they prefer right around 20. I came in at 18 weeks for Ella, and the technician was surprised that the doctor had scheduled me so early. Thankfully (I don't think I could have waited another 2 weeks!), Ella spread her legs just long enough for us to be sure. :) BTW, I love reading your blog and Jeff's too. I'm lucky if I accomplish 10% of what the two of you do in a day! Your children will not lack in creativity!

Now if they can just figure out when 20 weeks or so is for me, to schedule the u/s!
Thanks, Rachel...you're kind to say so. Most of the time I feel like I'm not accomplishing much at all. Being a mom I guess you'd understand all the picking up and cleaning and tasks that never seem to be done. Sometimes in the itch to do something creative I, um, let the other stuff go! :)
